Autism Day

On the 18th of December in 2007, April 2nd was declared World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) by the United National General Assembly.  They want to put emphasis on people who live with autism and others who live with someone who has autism.

This year, in 2019 will be the twelfth annual of WAAD. The themes change in every year, and this time it will be ’Assistive Technologies, Active Participation’.  It will be organized by the UN Department of Global Communications and Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

There are a lot of initiatives not just on April 2nd, but every day in April. That is why April is the World Autism Month . Related to this, there is a man who has Asperger syndrome and he makes youtube videos about his life and autism. He has his own Youtube Channel (The Aspie World) and now, in April he will make a video every single day to support other people who also live with autism. That is why on 2nd of April there are so many people wearing blue clothing (not only those who have autism) just to show that they care and want to fight against dicrimination towards this disease.

I think on this day we should celebrate these amazing people with different skills because they deserve just as many community events as we do.

So on  the 2nd of April I am going to wear a blue T-shirt … Will you?

Please help us achieve our mission!

Did you know that 1% of the Hungarian population is diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, so several hundred thousand people already know that they are living, studying and/or working with someone who has Asperger’s Syndrome?
